Pagan Philosophy From a Radical Pagan Philosoper

Pagan Philosophy From a Radical Pagan Philosopher- In this essay I will explain what I mean by Radical, what I mean by Pagan, and what I mean by Philosophy. I hope all of you enjoy my blog titled Radical Pagan Philosophy.

Pagan Philosophy that is Radical, what does that mean? It means that my views are not politically correct. I couldn't care less what this society and culture holds to be sacrosanct. I will espouse views that seem to go against what is “good”. I will then argue what the majority hold to be good is just an arbitrary convention of the society that we are in. I view this society as sick and perverted, therefore its values mean little to me. I also view classical liberalism, Marxism, and Christianity as decadent for the Occident. I align myself strongly to the Traditionalist movement of Julius Evola and the Nouvelle Droite of Alain de Benoist. For these reasons, I call myself a radical.

Pagan Philosophy, what do I mean by the term Pagan? It means that my personal philosophy has certain key features. For the sake of brevity, I will make comments that hint at my metaphysics, epistemology, and existential outlook. I hold that Christianity’s over reliance on miracles to be indicative of a superstitious religion. I also find Christianity’s focus on supposed events in history rather than a system based upon an intelligent metaphysics make it at most an entertaining story. With that being said, I am also critical of materialism. I find it to be based on a simplistic view of John Locke’s empiricism from French Enlightenment philosophers. My metaphysical position is more spiritual with idealist leanings, that has strong affinities to Aryan / Indo-European Paganism. My existential outlook also finds beauty and value in the Pagan Weltanschauung. For these reasons, I call myself a pagan.

Pagan Philosophy, what do I mean by Philosopher? It means to be a lover of wisdom, which I believe to be of central importance to the Pagan Weltanschauung. The Pagan sage is an ideal that I strive towards, rather than the Christian saint, or the capitalist consumer. I live the contemplative life; it defines the very essence of my being. This is why I call myself a philosopher.

Though I just hinted at my philosophy, I hope this very terse description has both explained what I mean by radical pagan philosophy, and will further interest you in what I mean by radical pagan philosophy.

The Dawn

For the last year and nine months I have been in a long night of angst. Since I was in school in the daytime to pursue my philosophy degree; I took a job which had both a boon and a curse. The boon was that it was a job in the nighttime where I was making good money at a very opportune time (while I was getting my degree). The curse was the horrible working environment. When the leaders of any organization lack the intelligence to look at complex situations and factor them into solvable pieces, and then are unable to create the policies necessary for that organization to flourish, they justify their positions by projecting blame and degrading the people underneath them. This curse is also magnified when the one who is at the top is a petty and insecure man who creates policies based upon his twisted psychological outlook rather than what will cause the organization to thrive.

Now the situation has changed, I have quit my job, and have a degree in philosophy with a 4.0 major GPA. I have studied philosophy for many years now independently, but I had a strong desire to “make it official”, that is the reason why I got the degree. My goal now is to now pursue the projects that make my life meaningful, and also get a job that uses my skills that are both innate and learned.

With this being said, I value the good aspects of this last year and nine months, both the friends from work and school, and the teaching from my professors. For all of the vile and disgusting people of this past I direct this curse, as you fade from my memories, I hope that all the blessings Tyche gives you only raises you higher, so that when Nemesis strikes, you will fall down longer and harder.

I will now end with a quote from Socrates, and in the next post, I will explain the reason and purpose of this blog.

Beloved Pan, and all ye other gods who haunt this place, make me beautiful within, and grant that what-ever happens outside of me will help my soul to grow. May I always be aware that true wealth lies in wisdom, and may my "gold" be so abundant that only a wise man can lift and carry it away. For me that is prayer enough.- Socrates
